LUSH Butterball Bath Bomb

Bath bombs made by LUSH dissolve quickly in a warm bathtub. Like all of the LUSH products, they’re handmade with as many organic and fresh ingredients as possible — so they can expire; don’t hoard these spherical treats for a year before use!

The fizz of a dissolving bath bomb is a source of pleasure for many home-spa lovers. Some change the color of the bath water, some fill the air with wonderful scents, and some even contain surprises visible only when the bomb has completely dissolved. Most soften the skin with ingredients that are comparable to professional spa bath treatments. Different people have different favorites, and some bath bombs are created and later retired, but many of them remain so popular that they never go out of style!

LUSH Butterball Bath BombFor someone just getting introduced to the wonderful world of LUSH bath treatments, the simplest and least controversial bath bomb is the Butterball. (And yes, there is indeed controversy — the LUSH forums light up with rants and raves regarding favorites.) A light, not overbearing vanilla musk is the predominant scent in the Butterball bath bomb, with some underlying ylang ylang to ensure that this isn’t an overly sweet scent. The cocoa butter melts in the water, and its skin-softening properties are also incredibly relaxing.

What’s Great: The Butterball is a the classic LUSH bath bomb, easy to use and combine with other LUSH bath add-ins. It’s always available (as compared to some seasonal LUSH products), will likely never be retired, and very soothing.

What’s Not: For “advanced” home spa users, the Butterball bath bomb can seem so generic it’s boring. You can combine this “simple” bath bombs with other LUSH products, but that increases the price point of each  bath, too.

Bottom Line: Butterball bath bombs are a standard in my LUSH storage bin. There is nothing complex about them, and I’ve added Butterballs to other bath treatments for a nice blend. Some bathers might get bored of them (inoffensive as they are), but they are certainly here to stay.

Cost: Currently $4.83 per bath bomb. This is the low end of the LUSH bath bomb price range.

Purchase: Your local Lush store, or online at Lush.com.
