Brand new resort in Curaçao… Hyatt amenities and top-notch service… private white-sand beach… AND a gorgeous full-serivce spa? Sign me up!

The Hyatt Regency Curaçao Golf Resort & Spa opened just two months ago and it looks absolutely lovely (at least via the rotating photo gallery on the resort website). I spent just one night on Curaçao a couple of years ago during a short trip to this southern part of the Caribbean, and quickly fell in love with the this island. It has an interesting colonial Dutch history, and the pastel-colored buildings in its capital Willemstad are picture perfect. It’s definitely an island where you want to linger and enjoy laid-back living and tropical breezes.
Featured at this new Hyatt Regency luxury resort is the Atabei Spa, which draws inspiration (and its name that means “mother earth, creator of life”) from the Arawak people, the original inhabitants of the island. Treatments at the 4,500-square-foot indoor/outdoor spa all begin with a foot-cleansing ritual featuring area sea salts. In fact, a Curaçao local’s botanical garden provides the herbal ingredients to make scrumptious earth-friendly body products used in many of the services here.
I love the sound of the Lama Salt Bar, where you can create your own body-scrub experience, combining favorite salts, herbs and oils, which meld together as a detoxifying scrub. Or, for sun-kised skin, there’s the hydrating Aloe Recovery wrap.
Regardless of what treatments you choose at the Hyatt Regency Curaçao’s Atabei Spa, you get to spend time in the sleek and sophisticated relaxation room. Even just gazing at this serene spot via a digital photograph puts me in a peaceful state!

I want to put the Atabei Spa at the new Hyatt Regency Curacao Golf Resort, Spa and Marina on your editorial radar screen. One month old, the resort opened on April 20, the Atabei “meaning “mother earth, creator of life” Spa draws inspiration from the ancient culture and rituals of the Arawak people, the original inhabitants of the island, and looks to utilize native plants, sea salts, muds and herbs honoring the majestic landscape of Curaçao. The signature treatments at the spa are designed to heal and guide the body to a more relaxed and stress-free state. All treatments begin with a Balinese foot cleansing ritual using herbs, local sea salts and a kalbass bowl used as a vessel to cleanse the body and soul. Below is more information on Atabei Spa.
