The Spa at Woodstock Inn & Resort Debuts this Week

I went to college about 30 minutes from the Woodstock Inn & Resort — though back then, I think it was only known as the Woodstock Inn. The Inn dates back an incredible 218 years, and I have fond memories of a couple of very special meals at its award-winning dining room, while enjoying the peaceful, sophisticated (yet charming) surroundings. If I still lived in New England, believe me, I’d hightail it up to Vermont to not only check out the fabulous fall foliage in the coming months, but also to experience the Inn’s new spa.

The brand new spa addition sounds absolutely fabulous. Here are a few highlights:

  • Housed in a 10,000-square-foot LEED-designed new structure, which cost $10 million to build.
  • Signature spa treatments that reflect the current season; each 100-minute treatment draws upon natural outdoor elements; pumpkin spice, deep forest, vanilla maple and berry bliss.
  • Organic skin-care products from Eminence, Naturopathica and Spa Ritual.
  • The relaxing “Great Room,” features vaulted ceilings, custom furnishings and a wood-burning fireplace.
  • The outdoor meditation courtyard has a sauna, fire pit, hot soaking pool and a flowering tulip tree that will mark the passing of seasons.
  • Ten luxurious treatment rooms, with treatment tables adorned with organic cotton linens and Vermont organic wool blankets.

To celebrate the spa’s opening this weekend, the Inn is offering a Grand Opening Package. It starts at $278/night (double occupancy) and includes accommodations in a standard guest room, a $100 credit toward spa treatments and breakfast for two each morning. The offer runs through December 22, 2010, and some blackout dates apply.

A few nights’ stay at the Woodstock Inn & Resort would be a delightful way to getaway with a significant other; it’s quaint and romantic and quintessential New England, for sure. Resort amenities and services include The Red Rooster, a fine-dining restaurant whose menu emphasizes fresh, local ingredients; an 18-hole Robert Trent Jones-designed golf course; a 41,000-square-foot Racquet & Fitness Club with tennis courts and lap pool. Woodstock, Vermont, itself is darling, filled with antique shops, art galleries, boutiques, restaurants and more.

Woodstock and its historic Woodstock Inn & Resort is definitely on my radar for my annual summer trip home to New Hampshire. It should be on yours, too!
