We’re three professional travel writers who love to spa! Here at TheSpaGals.com, we review destination, resort, hotel and day spas, and we recommend pampering products so you can “spa at home.” We also interview industry experts, cover spa trends and news, and share spa travel deals.
For us, a weekend, an afternoon or just an hour at the spa allows us to pamper ourselves, and lets us return to our lives as busy moms feeling refreshed and rejuvenated. Spa treatments, relaxation lounges, steam rooms, fitness classes, healthy meals… we consider any combination of spa amenities absolutely heavenly and such a wonderful respite from “real life.”
We don’t profess to be experts in the health and wellness field, but with our travel-writing backgrounds, we are experienced in reviewing destinations with a critical eye. We apply our interviewing and researching skills to covering spa facilities the same way we write about all facets of the travel industry over at TheVacationGals.com.
Beth Blair says frequent massages make for a better life and body. She’s our adventurous spa-goer, always willing to sample the more unusual or locally inspired body treatments. A Canyon Ranch pumpkin body wrap, Hawaiian lavender massage and a morning spent having her chakras cleansed top some of her memorable spa services. Her husband’s job recently brought Beth’s family to Minnesota, where this “hockey mom” keeps busy with her two active children, ages 4 and 5. She’s also stepmom to two teenagers who make their home in Arizona. Follow Beth on Twitter: @bethblair.
Jennifer Miner is The Spa Gals’ resident “spa at home” expert; she’s regularly sampling bath and body treatments to recommend to our readers. A true aficionado of the bathtub, she makes a beeline for the locker room hot tub in any hotel spa. A favorite recent experience: the Zen-like, wooden, Japanese Ofuro tubs at The Sky Lodge’s Amatsu Spa. Jennifer appreciates learning about spas’ environmentally friendly and holistic practices. She lives in Southern California with her husband and two tween-age daughters. Follow her on Twitter: @jenniferminer.
Kara Williams has never met a massage she didn’t like (except for the dude with the callused hands on the beach in Sayulita, Mexico). When she’s traveling, she’d sooner spend $100 on a treatment at her hotel’s spa than buy a souvenir to take home — and she especially enjoys soothing sore muscles at a spa after hiking, skiing or otherwise being active in the outdoors. Her daughter is a Spa Gal in training: she received her first full-body massage for her sixth birthday. Kara lives in the Colorado Rockies with her husband, daughter (age 10) and son (age 8).
